This week we completed this basic but elegant etched glass door for a Florida homeowner. The etched glass door and sidelight was completed just in time for their Thanksgiving guests to arrive. Etched glass doors, sidelights, transoms, and windows offer visual interest and privacy to the home’s interior. Glass artist Peter Edward has completed thousands of etched glass doors for homes in South Florida during his 30 year career of glass etching. This home is in Boynton Beach.

During the building boom that was happening during Peter Edward’s early years as a custom glass etching artist communities in Palm Beach County and Broward County Florida were going up by the dozens. He produced thousands of etched glass doors, etched windows, carved and etched mirrors, lighted glass, painted glass and etched glass shower enclosures. All were custom pieces indulging the homeowners with something beautiful and unique in otherwise uniformly built homes. Many homes in South Florida communities like Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and Boynton Beach are built with glass entry doors.
“For years our daily routine was to pickup glass entry doors in the morning, protect the opening with Visqueen, transform them into beautiful etched glass doors with custom designs and reinstall them the same day,” Peter Edward said. “We did so many etched glass doors that I eventually bought portable equipment and starting offering on-site glass etching at the customer’s location. That has been a big part of the business over the years,” he added.
