A Very Special Etched Shower Project South Florida homeowners Leigh and Gino selected glass artist Peter Edward to add custom art to three new etched glass shower enclosures they had made by The Original Frameless Shower Doors in Coral Springs, Florida. Custom Glass Etching Replaced “Like It Never Even Happened”

Custom Glass Etching Replaced “Like It Never Even Happened”

Have you ever wondered what you would do if your custom glass etching needed to be replaced? If an etched glass door, sidelight or window that is part of a scene were to break, that glass needs to be replaced with the original artwork. This becomes extremely important if it needs to match or coordinate with another door or window. Would you be able to find the original glass artist and if you know who it is, are they even still in business? It’s a story we hear frequently at Krystal Glass Company. A customer calls to have a custom glass etching replaced with new glass. Broken etched glass doors or sidelights due to a rock or other object breaking the glass are common. Many doors, windows and sidelights in entryways are etched with artwork that carries from one glass panel to the others. Some glass entryways contain two doors with etched glass mirror images of each other. Each time we encounter a project like this, glass artist Peter Edward comes to the rescue to repair the entryway like it never even happened. “I am completely in awe of Pete’s work, and of how quickly he did it. My husband and I are both thrilled,” Germaine said. “I can’t get over how perfect it looks. Like it never even happened!”    Custom Glass Etching Replaced By An Expert     When one glass panel breaks and needs to be replaced, the first step is having a new piece of glass custom made to fit the space exact. Next the custom glass etching replacement must be done carefully to match the rest of the design. This...

Fishing Tournament Created to Raise Prostate Cancer Awareness

Fishing Tournament Created to Raise Prostate Cancer Awareness

By Karen Jurgens Adriana Somberg has experienced what no woman ever wants to go through, but ultimately many of us will. She watched her beloved husband Reed die of prostate cancer. He was 59. That was one year ago. Since then she has dedicated her life to raising awareness of the disease by founding  Anglers For The Cure, a fishing tournament to be held August 28-29, 2015 in Reed’s honor at Sailfish Marina & Resort in Singer Island, Florida. Registration for the tournament is open now. A large portion of the money raised from the tournament will be donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation. Donations will also be made to Treasure Coast Hospice and Hospice of Palm Beach County. The money will be used to fund research and education on the importance of a simple, non-invasive blood test that men need to begin at age 50, or earlier if risk factors are present, to screen for prostate-specific antigen, PSA. Krystal Glass Company, a custom glass etching company in South Florida, is proud to be one of the sponsors of Anglers For The Cure. Glass artist Peter Edward has created and donated an etched glass sailfish sculpture in an LED illuminated base. The art glass is valued at $400. Etched glass with nautical designs is popular here in South Florida, especially among boaters and people who enjoy sport fishing. The etched glass sailfish will be used in the silent auction to raise money for the cause. “I can’t thank you enough. You and Peter are angels,” Adriana told me when she picked up the etched glass sailfish at our showroom....
